On this day
I light this candle
For your lover
Your two sons
Your mother
Your sister
For their strength
Their memories
Their hearts to be whole
For you
Dear boy
With a twinkle in my eye
And a toothy grin
I drive
At knuckle biting speed
Down the highway
All windows down
Black dog on my stereo
And
Rosemary
On my dash

Breath escapes
Involuntarily
Extensions are written
I breathe in
Deadlines are broken
I breathe out
Branches crash around me
I breathe in
A door is slammed
I breathe out
Flooring pulled from beneath me
I breathe in
Elaborate nightmares transcend
I breathe out
Hand to my chest
I breathe in
Head bowed
I breathe out.

What does erasure do?
It removes something.
What does it leave behind?
Something else.

Found another way to use my prints- reduce, photocopy, tear and old newspaper clippings and you have a therapeutic process and outcome. Thanks Sonya!

Silently he sits
My coloured offerings upon his lap
I speak to him as an old friend
No olive branch in sight
Heart open
We speak of Persecution
Sabotage
Loss
Remorse
With the same bruises on our back
Same sunken eyes
We recount stonings
Speak of threads
the Unravelling
Both of our hands
Knuckles white
Gripped
Dirty
And tear stained
For what broke for you
On this day
I lay delicate blossoms
And for me
Its enough
To just sit
Still

How confronting it is to sit, observe and be in that moment with yourself intimately.
When the very essence of you is being challenged.
I seemed to have spent the last month concentrating on Self Portraits.
I now love every line thats etched on my face.
Those lines are my stories and mine alone.
I have taken time and love in remembering and honouring every one of them.
